Description

Namibia is completely different to any other African safari destination. Much of its wildlife has adapted to its dry desert landscape, including elephant and lion. It has the world’s highest dunes, where barking geckos, cartwheeling spiders and quick-tongued chameleons scuttle across sun-baked sand. And, it has a long coastline where you can kayak with seals and see the skeletal remains of ships sent awry by thick coastal fog. Our Africa specialists have explored the country in-depth, from Sossusvlei to the Skeleton Coast, and can help you plan a holiday to Namibia tailored to your interests.

Namibia lends itself to self-driving, with well-maintained roads giving you access to Etosha National Park’s silvery salt pans, the red-rock landscape of Damaraland, and the vast crevasse of the Fish River Canyon. Photographers need look no further than Dead Vlei, where burnt-orange dunes contrast against blackened camelthorn trees and clear blue skies. Meanwhile, Swakopmund offers more active experiences for families, from quad biking to sandboarding.

This Luxury Namibia Fly-in and Private Guided Safari afford you the chance to experience this magnificent and memorable country in a very personal way. You will experience Namibia’s south by air with a bird’s eye view of the great sand sea and the desolate Skeleton Coast, including flying over shipwrecks, deserted mining camps and seal colonies before going on to have your own professional and experienced naturalist safari guide accompany you through the northern reaches of Namibia.

Itinerary: Remote Namibia honeymoon safari

Day 1 : International outbound flight

Today you begin your journey by boarding your international outbound flight to Windhoek.

Day 2 : Sossusvlei

Upon arrival into Windhoek you will be met and escorted through to your light aircraft flight out to Sossusvlei. A driver from Kulala Desert Lodge will meet you and take you back to settle in.

Day 3 : Sossusvlei

Early this morning you will set off with your driver-guide for the dunes - the light is best at the very start of the day as the shadows on the sides of the dunes create stark contrasts which is fantastic for photography. You will access the dunes through the private Kulala Gate, so you'll get there before the crowds. Depending on what you decide with your driver-guide, you are likely to walk into Dead Vlei, which is a huge white-floored pan with ghostly dead trees. The more adventurous can climb up Big Daddy dune at the end of the Vlei, and run down the dune into Dead Vlei! You will enjoy a picnic brunch and visit the Sesriem Canyon before returning to the lodge. Spend the rest of the day relaxing or enjoying an afternoon drive if you're not too tired.

Day 4 : Swakopmund

After breakfast you will set off for the Kulala airstrip and fly to Swakopmund. Your flight from Sossusvlei to Swakopmund is considered to be a scenic flight as you'll fly over the famous dunes, over the Sandwich Harbor and its famous lagoon, the flamingos of Walvis Bay and up along the Skeleton Coast spotting some of the famous shipwrecks (like Shaunee and Eduard Bolen). This flight is approx. 50 minutes in length. On arrival you will be met and driven to your guesthouse and the rest of the day is at leisure. If you would like, we can book a restaurant for you for the evening and give you some recommendations as to our favourite places to eat.

Day 5 : Swakopmund

There are a number of excursions you can do from Swakopmund. Most popular is the sea kayaking from Walvis Bay where you get very close to the seals and sometimes see dolphins.

Day 6 : Damaraland

You will be taken back to the airport this morning for your flight along the coast to Damaraland. You will get some lovely aerial views of the dunes from the plane, so this should be a fantastic journey! You will arrive in the early afternoon at Palmwag, where you will be met by a driver-guide from Desert Rhino Camp who will drive you into the heart of this vast wilderness, game viewing on the way. You can settle into your luxury tent and perhaps enjoy a sundowner drive to explore this stunning area!

Day 7 : Damaraland

Today you can track black rhino by vehicle and on foot. This is a truly special experience accompanied by rangers and members of the Save the Rhino Trust. In the afternoon you can go for a walk or a drive, or simply relax at the camp if you prefer.

Day 8 : Damaraland

Enjoy another day of activities at Desert Rhino Camp.

Day 9 : Etosha National Park

This morning you can enjoy another game drive or walk from Desert Rhino Camp before you take the early afternoon light aircraft flight across to Etosha, to the Ongava Concession which borders the south-western edge of the park. A driver-guide from Ongava Lodge will meet you at the airstrip and drive you back to the lodge. If time permits, you can go out on a sundowner drive to explore the Ongava Reserve. There is a good amount of wildlife here, including lion, kudu, oryx, waterbuck, white rhino and black rhino and the rare black-faced impala.

Day 10 : Etosha National Park

Enjoy morning and afternoon game drives either in Ongava Reserve or Etosha National Park.

Day 11 : Etosha National Park

Another day to enjoy game drives either in Ongava Reserve or Etosha National Park.

Day 12 : International return flight

Today you will take the morning flight from Ongava to Windhoek International Airport to meet your onward flights.

Day 13 : International return flight

Arrive home today to complete your journey.
