Description |
Go whitewater rafting, glacier walking, moose watching, horseback riding and some other stuff. Trust us. There will be no shortage of great stories to tell after your family vacation to the Canadian Rockies. This tour has a very high "cool" quotient. Think suspended gondola rides over a mountain lake…wildlife spotting…and stories around a lakeside campfire. It's so great to expose children to a spectacular environment like this—pristine, quiet, remote. And the adults will get plenty of pleasure too; your stress just falling away on a walk through a limestone canyon or at a romantic dinner as the sunset is reflected in a mirror-smooth lake. And all of you will get a summer vacation you'll remember for a lifetime. |
DAYS 1-3 - BANFF / LAKE LOUISE
Your Rockies family vacation meets in Banff where you visit seven waterfalls and have a picnic in the forest. While the adults leave the historic log lodge for a gorgeous walk around Lake Louise (3 nights), the kids are with a local interpretive guide who meets them at the top of a gondola ride across the lake. After crossing the Continental Divide, take a short walk together to Canada's second highest waterfall. Afternoon options at Emerald Lake include river rafting or the chance to spend time with a guide who talks about dinosaur fossils in the Burgess Shale.
DAYS 4-6 - JASPER NATIONAL PARK / BANFF
En route to Jasper National Park (2 nights), an expert local guide takes us onto a huge glacier to explore. On an afternoon off, your family can canoe, fish or just relax. We've also scheduled a horseback ride that is a highlight for the kids, while the adults enjoy a scenic walk to see icebergs calved from Cavell Glacier. Our final dinner together precedes a lakeside campfire.
