Itinerary: Cambodia Classic

Day 1 Welcome to Cambodia!

Touchdown in Cambodia in the city of Siem Reap. Your guide will meet you in the airport, give you your welcome packet, and transfer you to your hotel where you can check in.

Prepare for all of the amazing sights and tours ahead. Sleep in the city that rests at the gate to the ruins of Angkor. Ancient stone temples, magnificent icons, and mysterious carved faces all await you.

Day 2 Siem Reap

Start your trip with a visit to Angkor Wat, the crown jewel of Khmer architecture. The best preserved and largest of the Angkor temples, Angkor Wat offers amazing views, pure artistry in its carvings, and stunning design in its architecture.

Then you'll tour through the fortified city of Angkor Thom, decorated with demons, gods, and nagas guarding the entrance. Wander through ancient public squares, dedicated Terraces, and former royal spaces.

Finish at Preah Khan Temple. Explore narrow, winding corridors and towering walls to the heart of the enclosed temple, surrounded by jungle.

Day 3 Siem Reap

Spend the day touring amazing temples, from the carved pink sandstone temple of Banteay Srei and the 12-th century temple dedicated to Vishnu, to the overgrown temple of Ta Prohm, where most of the jungle growth has been allowed to remain.

See the pyramid-shaped temple of Pre Rup with five beautiful shrines adorning it and what is left of the ancient wooden Srah Srang Temple sitting on a tiny island in the middle of the Banteay Kdei basin.

Day 4 Siem Reap

Wonder at ancient and amazing temples that mark the beginning of Khmer classical art, ranging across city founders, Sanskrit inscriptions on doorposts, and delicate sandstone carvings. Then enjoy a tour through Khmer silk production at Puok Silk Farm, with a thorough walk-through of everything from collecting the cocoons from mulberry bushes to weaving the final product.

Day 5 Siem Reap - Kampong Thom

Today, you'll be transferred from Siem Reap to Kampong Thom where you will visit Sambor Prei Kuk.  Wander through a peaceful forest where over 100 temples have been sleeping since the 6th century. Explore these ancient complexes and gain some insight into what early Cambodia was like.

Day 6 Kampong Thom - Kampong Cham - Phnom Penh

During your transfer to Phnom Penh, visit the port town of Kampong Cham that rests along the Mekong River. Enjoy the town and experience the vibrant local market before heading out to the countryside to see Phnom Pros (Man Hill) and Phnom Srei (Woman Hill) where folklore says the tradition of men asking for a woman's hand in marriage originated from a stupa-building contest.

Then continue to Wat Nokor Bachey, a monastery that was founded on top of an 11th century Mahayana Buddhist shrine and is still thriving today.

Day 7 Phnom Penh

On your last full day, enjoy the high-energy of Phnom Penh, a fascinating city filled with striking museums and unique street vendors. Visit the Royal Palace, which is still the official residence of the King, the elegant National Museum that houses Khmer art, the devastating but educational Toul Sleng Museum (Museum of Genocide).

Explore the modern day markets like Central Market with its vibrant fares, and the sprawling labyrinth that makes up the Russian Market, which offers everything from CDs, DVDs, and crafts, to silk, jewelry, and more.
