Itinerary: Ancient Angkor Wat Independent Adventure

Day 1 Siem Reap

Arrive in Siem Reap and check in to the hotel. Tonight, discover the night market on a guided tour.

Day 2 Siem Reap

Spend 2 days exploring the ruins of the Angkor Wat temple complex with a local expert guide.

Over the course of 2 days, visit some of the highlights of this ancient capital, including the magnificent temple of Angkor Wat, the enigmatic Bayon within the walled city of Angkor Thom, Preah Khan, and Ta Prohm, which is a temple in the jungle known as the "Tomb Raider" temple.

Day 3 Siem Reap

Spend another morning wandering the ruins of the ancient Angkor temple complex with a local guide. Afterwards, savour a local lunch at a G Adventures-supported community project. Head back to the hotel where the tour ends on arrival at approximately 3:00pm.

This morning you must check-out of the hotel before your tour of the Angkor Temple complex. Luggage can be stored at reception and you can pick it up when you return to the hotel at the end of the tour in the afternoon.

Day 1 Welcome to Siem Reap!

Feel the adventure in the air as you arrive in sunny Siem Reap! After collecting your luggage and clearing customs, you will be met by your friendly guide, who will prepare you for an unforgettable journey.

Gaze out the window as you enjoy a comfortable transfer to your first luxurious accommodation. Spend the night relaxing and settling in! Why not treat yourself to a yummy first-night meal of Cambodian classics?

Day 2 Siem Reap

Fuel up with an energizing breakfast, then grab your camera and embark on a day of cultural enchantment! Enjoy a full-day tour of Angkor, on which you will visit Angkor Thom, the Bayon Temple, Ta Prohm, and of course, the one and only Angkor Wat. Immerse yourself in the stunning beauty of Cambodia's countryside and feast your eyes on a spectacular sunset from the upper terraces of an ancient temple. 

Day 3 Siem Reap

Feel free to sleep in today; the day is yours to spend as you'd like! Consider seeing the temples the adventurous way - by bike! Many travelers agree that cycling around is a fun, easy way to experience Angkor at your own pace. Or, hop in a tuk-tuk and venture around on foot! The area is filled with stands where you can rent bikes or hire a tuk-tuk. 

Tonight, experience the spirited atmosphere of the Pub Street area, Siem Reap's party hub! Treat yourself to a drink and some local food, then do some souvenir shopping at the bustling Angkor Night Market.

Day 4 Siem Reap

Today, consider waking up early and visiting Angkor before sunrise. Okay, this may mean being there around 5 a.m., but this once-in-a-lifetime scene is worth it. Watching the sunrise over Cambodia's famous ancient temples is an indescribable experience - and an ideal photo op. Starting the day at 5 a.m. also means you'll have the remainder to relax and leisurely explore.

Somewhere around midday. visit Phsar Chas, the Old Market, for a real feel of Cambodian daily life. Feast your eyes on baskets of colorful spices, interesting local produce, and yes - fried bugs. When in Cambodia, right? If fried bugs aren't exactly what you're craving, try other local street favorites like fried bananas, kebabs, and crispy meats. 

Tonight, head back to the Pub Street area and seek out a traditional Aspara dance show!

Day 5 Siem Reap - Phnom Penh

Savor one last breakfast in Siem Reap, then enjoy a comfortable transfer to the airport for your flight to Phnom Penh! Upon arrival in Cambodia's buzzing capital, meet your transfer and enjoy a convenient ride to your next and final accommodation. Settle in and leisurely explore the city on your own tonight. 

Day 6 Phnom Penh

Rise and shine! Today, you'll enjoy an exciting sightseeing tour of Phnom Penh. Become immersed in Cambodian culture as you visit landmarks, museums, Buddhist pagodas, vibrant markets, and more. 

The second half of the day is all yours. Revisit your favorite spots from the tour, do some souvenir shopping, and treat yourself to a decadent last night meal.

Day 7 Depart Cambodia

Squeeze all your souvenirs into your luggage and wave goodbye to Phnom Penh. Enjoy a comfortable ride to the airport and find your gate. Spend your flight home dreaming about your next adventure!
