Volga River in Two Weeks
With your two week trip to the Volga River, you’ll get to explore numerous cities and villages throughout Russia, including both Moscow and St. Petersburg. This cruise will allow you to see both the city life and the nature and countryside of Russia as you cruise along the Volga River
Day 1 - Depart United States: Today, you will depart the U.S. on your overnight flight to Moscow.
Day 2 - Arrive in Moscow: You’ll be met at the airport, where you will be transported to the pier where you will board your cruise vessel that will be docked in Moscow for a few days. Moscow is the capital of Russia. An introduction gathering and dinner will take place the first evening.
Day 3 - Explore Moscow: For the first full day in Moscow, the morning will start off with a tour of the Kremlin’s Grounds, including a visit to the bell, the cathedrals, and Czar’s cannon. Continue on to the Armory Museum, where you’ll find loads of Russian history and treasures, including coronation gowns, silverware, and weapons.
Day 4 - More of Moscow: The tour of Moscow continues, including a visit to Red Square, and the Kremlin, the seat of the Russian government. Wonder the streets and grab a bite to eat at the food stalls, or grab a souvenir. An opportunity to visit the world-class Moscow Metro is also available, where you can tour the most beautiful metro in the world. That evening, you will set sail down the Volga.
Day 5 - Uglich: The first town the ship stops at is Russia’s second oldest city, Uglich. Here, travelers will get to see the Church of St. Demetrius of the Blood and a collection of Russian Orthodox Architecture. Jump back on the boat for an evening filled with activities including lectures and games.
Day 6 - Yaroslavl: The next stop is Yaroslavl, home of the Governor’s Palace and the Church of Elijah Prophet. Spend the day exploring this town founded in the 11th century.
Day 7 - Goritzi: The third stop is a riverside town, where you’ll explore the village on food. Included is a visit to an authentic peasant home.
Day 8 - Kizhi Island: Sitting on Lake Onega, explore the island of Kizhi, including a visit to the Church of Transfiguration, built without a single nail! Another opportunity to admire the architecture is welcomed at the open-air museum.
Day 9 - Mandrogi: The town of Mandrogi is a replica of an authentic 19th century village in Russia, and is home to the Vodka Museum. Also included in this stop is an outdoor barbeque with live entertainment, before departing for the final Destination.
Day 10 - St. Petersburg arrival: After arriving in St. Petersburg, the ship will be docked for three days before departing back home. Day one includes a guided tour that allows travelers to enjoy the architecture, culture, and beauty of St. Petersburg.
Day 11- St. Petersburg: No trip to St. Petersburg is complete without a visit to one of the most famous museums in the world, the Hermitage Museum. Art pieces fill over 400 rooms, including original pieces by Leonardo da Vinci, Van Gogh, and Picasso. Spend the rest of the day at leisure.
Day 12 - St. Petersburg: A day full of Palaces! The first stop is Catherine’s Palace, where the Russian Royalty used to live. The amber room is found here, a room full of beautiful amber pieces. Visit the Peterhof Palace, with gardens that compare to the Versailles.
Day 13 - St. Petersburg/Departure: Enjoy a final brunch before being transferred to the airport to depart on your flight back home.
