Editor’s Take
Most trip reviews tend to focus on some or all of these 5 key areas, not all of which may be relevant to you: the tour guide, travel company, service level, country or countries traveled in, and the trip itinerary. Remember, just because you see a 1-star review doesn’t necessarily mean that person disliked the country.
One of the most important factors to keep in mind when reading Croatia tour reviews is that a large majority of tours to Croatia also visit other countries in the region - particularly Bosnia and Herzegovina and Slovakia. So bear in mind that many reviews are not reflective of a Croatia only experience.
Reviews for Croatia tours are largely 4 and 5 stars. Many reviewers comment on the potential for the tour to feel rushed, but the itinerary and guide demonstrated an impressive balance of cultural sites and active outdoor excursions.
If you would like a longer tour in Croatia, make sure to check out tours that are at least 12 days. These longer tours will include Croatia and other Balkan countries, but will give you plenty of time to explore.
Croatia is also a popular trip for Adriatic cruises, and many positive reviews of Croatia point to this as a great way to explore the Balkan region of Europe.
With Croatia’s location on the Mediterranean, the weather can change very quickly. If you are traveling during the warm months or shoulder seasons, keep in mind the weather can change on a dime and may affect your outdoor activities.
You can expect comfortable accommodations in Croatia, though some buildings will be old and quirky. Throughout the central and eastern European region, some travelers may take issue with the room size and shower size, as well as general comfortability in hotels. This is a sticking point for some less favorable reviews of tours in Croatia.
Also, there is a wide range of differing opinions for Croatia tour guides. Due to Croatia’s popularity among younger travelers, young guides are quite common. However, this can be a turn off for older travelers, particularly if the guide is less experienced. If the age of the guide is of concern, consider seeking out tour companies that cater to your age group.
